Scams harm real people on a massive scale, every day. This plenary brings together key voices—including Craig Newmark (founder of Craigslist and advocate for cyber civil defense), Alice Taylor (Oxford Information Labs Research), and Will Blay (Microsoft)—to tell a shared story of this human impact. The session will showcase effective intervention strategies through the Take 9 initiative, discuss the effect of scams on vulnerable populations and reveal how organizations can achieve systemic disruption. We will spotlight the Global Signal Exchange (GSE) as a practical way forward, demonstrating how cross-sector, cross-geographic collaboration and shared intelligence can stop scams before they spread.
